Climate Change And Disaster Risk Reduction

Within recent years, the world has received very strong warnings from scientific studies indicating climate change will affect life as we know it if actions are not stepped up to address it. Many extreme weather events and environmental changes experienced within recent years have been linked to climate change.

Our approach to tackling climate change is mainly through education and advocacy.

In the area of education, International Climate Change Development Initiative (ICCDI) has established Teach Recycling Early in both Primary and Secondary Schools with a purpose to educate students about environmental sustainability and the role they can play in environmental protection. International Climate Change Development Initiative's (ICCDI) executives and volunteers regularly visit member schools to provide them with resource materials for better understanding of the issue. International Climate Change Development Initiative's (ICCDI) also provides them with the tools to carry out projects and activities that use the knowledge they have gained in the training.

We believe that with the knowledge gained; these youth will grow to be responsible becoming good architects in managing and protecting the environment.

In the area of advocacy, International Climate Change Development Initiative (ICCDI) uses #ClimateWednesday as a campaign tool to call on the government and political leaders to make policies that are geared towards environmental sustainability. International Climate Change Development Initiative's (ICCDI) also organizes capacity building and training workshops in order to reach the broader public. International Climate Change Development Initiative's (ICCDI) recognizes the need to assist communities already affected by climate change and those vulnerable to these effects, and therefore embark on projects that are geared towards adaptation and mitigation. This includes organizing clean-up campaigns to address choked gutters and also carrying out the planting of trees.
